Coaching at Vegas Aces

  • Boys Club Director for Vegas Aces Volleyball
  • Serves as a Head Coach within the Vegas Aces boys program
  • Joined Vegas Aces in 2019 and continues to coach with the club today
  • Helped establish and grow the Vegas Aces boys volleyball program

    • 2004 NCAA National Champion with the BYU Cougars
    • Starting libero during his final two seasons
    • Team Captain in 2006
    • Led the team in total digs and digs per game
    • One of the top passers in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation
    • Averaged just 0.87 return errors per game, ranking second among MPSF liberos
  • Mt. Carmel High School | San Diego, California
    • Three-year volleyball letterman
    • Team MVP and Spring Athlete of the Year
    • First Team All-League and First Team All-CIF as a senior
    • Selected to the Redondo Beach and Las Vegas All-Tournament Teams
    • Recipient of the United States Marines Distinguished Athlete Award
    • Grew up playing both indoor and beach volleyball

Coaching Philosophy

  • Develop the whole athlete, not just the volleyball player
  • Use volleyball to teach discipline, accountability, confidence, communication, and teamwork
  • Emphasize preparation, effort, consistency, and a willingness to learn
  • Help athletes respond to adversity and turn challenges into opportunities to improve
  • Create an environment where athletes are challenged to become better players while developing habits and character that serve them beyond the court
  • Believe that long-term player development is more important than short-term results

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering – Brigham Young University
  • Graduated cum laude and received multiple academic honors as a collegiate student-athlete

  • Deputy General Manager, Clark County Regional Flood Control District
  • More than 20 years of professional experience in project management, leadership, communication, and team development
  • Holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Brigham Young University
  • Enjoys golf outside of the volleyball gym
